Founded in 1994 in Paris, France, by Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse. From 2006 on, the studio is based in Lima, Peru, maintaining its activity in France with Guilhem Roustan and Jean Marc Viste, partners of the Parisian studio Atelier Nord-Sud.

Their work manage a wide range of programs and focuses both on the relationship to landscape and human wellbeing through pertinence in usage and attention to time, space and light. The aim of their work is to improve the natural and built environment with a rational and sustainable approach, in which the human being is a central issue.

Barclay & Crousse has received several international awards from international reviews as Architectural Review, Architectural Record, and Wallpaper, among others. Their work has been recognized at the 4th Iberoamerican Biennale and at the 13th Buenos Aires Biennale, with both de Biennale Latin America Prize and the Latin America Prize granted by the International Committee of Architectural Critics (CICA).

The place for Memory and the Equis house have been nominated for the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize in 2014. Equis house has also been first runner-up for the best-built project at the IV Iberoamerican Biennale, and Malraux Museum got a nomination for the French prize Equerre d’Argent. The Place of Remembrance has won the 2014 Peruvian National Architecture Prize (Exágono de Oro). Their work has been exhibited and published worldwide. The Italian editor Lettera Ventidue published in 2012 a monographic book about their works in the Peruvian desert coastline, presented at the 13th Venice Biennale, in which they also participated in the first Peruvian exhibition.
