Paul Gotthilf Reinhold Baumgarten (May 5th, 1900 - October 8th, 1984) was a German architect and professor at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin (HdK). He was born in Tilsit in East Prussia (now called Sovetsk and located in Russia). From 1919 to 1924 Baumgarten studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule Danzig and thereafter at the Technische Hochschule Berlin. After completing his studies he worked at the architecture practice of Mebes & Emmerich in Berlin.
In 1932 he established his own practice. From 1937 to 1945, he was in charge of surface const ructionLeiter at the construction company Philipp Holzmann AG. From 1942 he was also a professor at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin.
