The project is an entry to an invited international competition for an educational campus situated on the shore of the Senezh Lake, an hour away from Moscow. The campus is not only a site-specific solution tailored for its context but also a conceptual prototype of how the future of education can be embodied into built form. The site is understood as a complex layering of information and culture that is to be explored as one explores any other learning material. Nature becomes a source of awe, a never-ending stream of knowledge and inspiration, and of course a place for contemplation and relaxation. Here the buildings play a role of a network of places where this knowledge is exchanged and understood. These pavilions for abstraction are at the same time structures that relate seamlessly to their environment.

The relationship between nature on-site and the built intervention becomes the curriculum of the campus, stimulating curiosity and interaction. At the core of this concept lies the Lab, which can be perceived more as a redefinition of the existing landscape rather than a conventional building. Its layout and overall design is an embodiment of the principles formulated by Lev Vygotsky, regarding his Social Developmental Theory. The psychologist 's theories stress the fundamental role of social interaction in the development of cognition, as he believed strongly that the community plays a central role in the process of "making meaning." Thus, the Lab is designed in order to allow for community learning as the forefront principle of the educational process, bridging with nature as a main source of knowledge.
